On my off days, days that I am not at the track but do a run, I climb aboard a treadmill 90% of the time.
The treadmill is a blind guy’s best friend as to operate it, and use it, one does not generally need the assistance of somebody else, except in some cases
where the machine is not marked which makes it hard to get it going.
For myself, the treadmill runs that I do are relatively short for the majority of the time, and I do not rely on a watch but instead rely on my ipod as
both entertainment, and my time keeper.
I have four off day runs a week, meaning that on Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday the treadmill and I share a bonding experience, usually beginning
with a slow jog to get the legs moving and ending at a solid clip generally in the 7:00 to 6:40 pace per mile range. I have really found progression runs
beneficial to my own training, but that is for another post entirely.
